A group of young carers from our Young Carers Notts service were invited to showcase their poetry at the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham as part of Nottingham Poetry Festival.

Over the last few months, local poet Jim Hall has run workshops and mentoring sessions with some of our young carers. The group have been encouraged to be imaginative, to write, and to create. Together they have put together All you need is a Pen – an anthology of their own work.

All You Need is a Pen - created by young carers.

Four of the young carers involved in creating the anthology bravely took to the stage to read their work to a large audience in the grand surroundings of the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham, as part of Nottingham Poetry Festival. The festival ran from 7th to 16th June and featured a wide range of performances, open mics, workshops, panels, and community events through the week.

For all of the young carers involved it was the first time performing in front of anyone and they were all fantastic – well done Gino, Josie, Myla and Theo!
